• University of Idaho sustainability office receives 2025 Palouse Basin Water Advocate Award (dailyfly.com) — The University of Idaho in Moscow has earned a regional award for a new water conservation and management plan that directly involves the city and Palouse Basin partners. The plan targets declining groundwater by cutting campus water use, upgrading infrastructure, and expanding conservation education, with several measures—like WaterSense fixtures and dual-flush restrooms—already underway.
   

• Latah County sheriff plans to get drug dog (lmtribune.com) — Latah County residents can expect a new drug-sniffing K-9 on patrol within about two months, adding to the existing dogs already serving Moscow. Sheriff Richard Skiles says the privately funded, fully trained dog will help keep meth, cocaine, heroin and eventually fentanyl out of the community, complementing Moscow Police Department’s K-9 Ragnar and a second city-approved dog.
   

• AREA ROUNDUP: Pullman alum Dollin's UW team wins national men's soccer title (lmtribune.com) — Moscow fans saw a big night of local hoops, with the Idaho Vandals cruising past Evergreen State 109-55 at ICCU Arena and the Moscow High girls hanging close before falling 52-44 to Bonners Ferry. The roundup also checks in on nearby Pullman, Deary, Lapwai, and other regional teams, highlighting standout individual performances across the Palouse.
