• Nampa, Meridian announce dates for Christmas tree recycling (ktvb.com) — Nampa residents can recycle their real Christmas trees for free at Kohlerlawn Cemetery from Friday through January 16, with trees turned into mulch for local parks and trails. Drop-offs run 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and trees must be free of stands, lights, and decorations. Meridian residents also get curbside and drop-off options on specific dates.

• George Harvey Guertin (mountainhomenews.com) — Longtime Idahoan and Air Force veteran George Harvey Guertin has died at 95, leaving family that includes a daughter living in Nampa. His life spanned wartime service as a medic, decades in civil service, and deep family roots across Idaho, with a private service planned later and his ashes to rest at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise.
