Bannock County Commissioners Meetings, December 29, 2025-January 2, 2026 (pocatellochubbuckobserver.com) — Bannock County commissioners will hold a Business and Claims meeting this Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Pocatello courthouse, while the courthouse will be closed Thursday for New Year’s Day. Regular BOCC meetings, usually held in the Pocatello chambers, cover contracts, land use decisions, and other county business that residents can attend and monitor.

2. Idaho authorities search for missing Montana man last seen in Gallatin County (bozemandailychronicle.com) — Authorities based in Pocatello are asking Southeast Idaho residents to watch for a missing Montana man whose phone last pinged along I-86 near Massacre Rocks. The 53-year-old, who is diabetic and without medication, may be driving a black 2014 Dodge Avenger with Arizona plates, and anyone with information is urged to call local law enforcement.
   

3. Pebble Creek Ski Area expected to open in coming weeks, Aspen lift could open this weekend (idahostatejournal.com) — Pebble Creek Ski Area near Pocatello is aiming to open in early January after recent cold and new snowfall, with a limited Aspen lift opening possible this coming weekend. Despite Pocatello’s record 57-degree Christmas Day, snowmaking has been running nonstop and children’s group lessons are already scheduled for Jan. 9, giving local skiers hope the wait is nearly over.
   

4. Twenty-eight local players across nine teams earn all-state football honors (idahostatejournal.com) — A strong football season for southeastern Idaho produced 28 all-state selections, including Pocatello High senior punter Hunter Cordell, who made the 5A first team after a standout year. Century, American Falls, Aberdeen, West Side, Grace, Rockland, North Gem and Blackfoot also celebrated multiple honorees, capping big turnaround seasons and deep playoff runs for several area programs.
   

5. AAA Report: Idaho Gas Prices Fall Below $2.85 as State Average Nears National Level (dailyfly.com) — Pocatello drivers are currently paying about $2.95 per gallon for regular gas, slightly above the new Idaho average of $2.84. A fresh AAA Idaho report shows prices have fallen sharply statewide over the past month and are now just two cents higher than the national average, with officials crediting lower seasonal demand and regional supply trends.
