Bakery Turns 109: Fresh Bread Only $1.09 To Celebrate

Through next week, the beloved bakery is offering certain breads and buns for just over a dollar — less than half the usual price. For over a century, the bakery has been a family affair: "Growing up here as a kid and walking from my grandpa's house, I could walk from his kitchen into the bread plant," said Darin DeBenedetti, who co-owns the bakery with this brother — and they're not the only family members who work there.

$421,000 Lawsuit Against Shuttered Nursing Home: IL Attorney General

Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul has filed a civil lawsuit at the Will County Courthouse on behalf of several former employees of the nursing home after 43 employees filed an unpaid wages claim. In addition to that, the Illinois Department of Labor identified 74 more employees who were owed unpaid wages, the lawsuit outlined. In total, the former employees claim they are owed $350,839 in unpaid wages.
