More Illinois Medical Weed Dispensaries Get Adult Sale License

ACROSS ILLINOIS — With a month to go before recreational marijuana is legal to buy and possession, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation has issued 30 operating medical marijuana dispensaries with an Adult Use Dispensing Organization License (recreational marijuana dispensary license).

According to IDFPR, these will be the first to offer recreational cannabis sales on Jan. 1 when recreational cannabis can legally be sold to anyone over the age of 21 and consumed in private homes and business.

However, even though the following dispensaries were given an Adult Use Dispensing Organization License, each still fall under their respective city or town's zoning laws and other legislation. Some of the municipalities below still have to make a final decision on whether to allow recreational sales starting Jan. 1. In September, the Naperville City Council voted to ban recreational cannabis sales.
