80 Degrees On Friday, Severe Storm Chances Start Thursday Night
The weather service said severe storms are possible through Friday night, with the highest chance east of Interstate 55.
ILLINOIS — After one last day of "tranquil weather" on Wednesday, a more active stretch will bring multiple chances of showers and thunderstorms through the weekend, plus hotter temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
Warmer temperatures are also expected to close out the week, the weather service said. The high is 64 on Thursday and 82 degrees on Friday.
There is a 50 percent chance of showers after 1 p.m. Thursday, and a chance of rain and storms before 9 p.m., followed by a slight chance of storms after 1 a.m. Wind gusts could get as high as 35 mph, according to the forecast.

The Storm Prediction Center gave a "slight" risk to most of Illinois for severe weather during the morning and early afternoon Friday, with severe storms also possible after 4 p.m.
Showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 a.m. Friday night, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. Saturday.

The highest chance of severe storms Friday night is east of Interstate 55.
Saturday brings another chance of showers and a high of 56 degrees. Sunday also brings a high of 56, with rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 p.m.
