MACHESNEY PARK, IL — Two months after Chicago's now-famous alligator, Chance the Snapper, was caught inside a Humboldt Park lagoon, another gator was captured, this time in Winnebago County. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office located a small alligator Saturday night in Machesney Park, according to authorities. Winnebago County Animal Services said it was called by the sheriff's office Saturday night to assist with the American alligator (pictured).

After the alligator was located, it was taken in by animal services. According to animal services, the "toothy visitor" was picked up by a Chicago area reptile rescue Sunday morning, as "alligators are not allowed as pets."

In July, Chicago's now-beloved "Chance the Snapper" captured hearts across the state before he was captured himself and relocated to a sanctuary in Florida.
