Applebee's Data Breach Affected 14 Illinois Locations

Customer information at more than 100 of the chain's restaurants around the U.S. might have been compromised.

Customer data at more than 100 Applebee's restaurants around the United States — including more than a dozen in Illinois — might have been compromised. RMH Franchise Holdings, which operates several locations, announced the breach earlier this month.

According to RMH, the breach was designed to capture payment card information and might have involved a limited number of purchases made at the affected restaurants. Customers' names and credit or debit card numbers, as well as expiration dates and card verification codes, could have been compromised by the breach, the company said.

Along with the 14 Illinois locations, Applebee's in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wyoming also were affected. Specific dates of the breach vary by locations, according to RMH.
