Armed Man Who Robbed Credit Union Arrested After Standoff: DeKalb Police
The masked man had fled the business with over $50,000 cash, police said.

DeKALB, IL — A man was arrested Friday following a standoff with police after he robbed a DeKalb credit union over the summer, authorities said.
Matthew L. Martin, 43, of Chicago, is charged with armed robbery, being an armed habitual criminal and possessing a weapon as a felon, according to police.
Officers were called around 8:15 a.m. July 31 to Illinois Community Credit Union in the 1500 block of Barber Greene Road after a masked man with a gun forced his way into the business and ordered workers to open a safe and put money in a bag, then fled with over $50,000 cash, police said.

Following a lengthy investigation, police from DeKalb and Chicago as well as an FBI SWAT team served an arrest warrant around 6 a.m. at Martin’s home in the 11200 block of South King Drive in Chicago, according to authorities. There was a brief standoff before Martin was taken into custody and brought to DeKalb for processing, police said.
