Chillier Weekend, Before Mild Temperatures Return For Christmas

ILLINOIS — Snow showers across the area will start the day on Friday, with lake effect snow showers expected near Lake Michigan to continue Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday has a high of 29 degrees, and Sunday a high of 35. The weekend should be dry, besides a chance of lake effect snow for northwest Indiana on Saturday morning, according to the weather service.

While the chances for a white Christmas may look great if you look out your window right now, milder temperatures are coming on Monday and Tuesday, as well as chances for rain.

Monday and Christmas Eve on Tuesday both have an expected high of 43 degrees. There is a chance of rain on Monday afternoon, and a chance on Monday night and Tuesday, mainly south of Interstate 80, according to the weather service.
