Cold Front Will Bring Storms, Temps In The 60s For Chicago Area

Thursday will be the coolest day of the week.

ILLINOIS — Meteorological fall is here, and a cold front is set to bring unseasonably cool temperatures to the Chicago area this week, according to the National Weather Service.

First, Tuesday will be "dry and seasonably mild," with a high of 83 degrees. However, a cold front will move into the area on Wednesday, bringing cooler temperatures through the weekend.

The cold front will also bring widespread showers and even a few storms on Wednesday, according to the weather service. The coolest day of the week looks to be Thursday, with high temperatures not even making it out of the 60s.

TUESDAY: Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 81. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 58. West wind around 5 mph.

WEDNESDAY: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 p.m. High near 77. West southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10pm, then a chance of showers between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 47. Northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

THURSDAY: Sunny, with a high near 66. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

THURSDAY NIGHT: A 30 percent chance of showers after 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 52.

FRIDAY: A 20 percent chance of showers before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 66.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 46.
