Cold Start To Week Before Temps Thaw, Then Another Cold Blast For IL
Friday will be the warmest day of the week, with a high of 43.
ILLINOIS — Cold temperatures will start the week, before highs of 40 degrees are possible by Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
First, sub-zero wind chills are expected Monday and Tuesday, with wind chills of 0 to 10 below zero on Monday morning, and again late Monday into Tuesday morning, the weather service said.
The high on Monday is 19, 16 on Tuesday and 23 on Wednesday.

Temps will then thaw out on Thursday, which has a high of 38, and Friday will be even warmer with a high of 43. The weather service said precipitation is not expected this week.
After the mild temps at the end of the week, another blast of Arctic air is expected, according to the weather service.

"...Another period of cold weather is shaping up to arrive next week (especially Jan. 20 and 21)," the weather service shared. Wind chills may fall well below zero, especially during the morning hours.
There will also be an increased threat for ice jams on rivers and ice formation on the shores of Lake Michigan.
