Downpours, Wind Gusts Possible As Storms Poised To Hit IL
Ready your umbrellas. It's likely storms will start Tuesday afternoon and continue into Wednesday.
ILLINOIS — A spate of pleasant, sunny weather in the Chicago area could be interrupted by heavy rain, high winds and stormy weather starting Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Scattered thunderstorms are expected to begin around 3 p.m. and continue until at least 10 p.m., with 30 to 50 percent coverage. NWS reports that storm coverage will be most significant north of I-80. Temperatures may dip as low as 62 degrees in the evening.

On Wednesday, thunderstorms will likely continue, with the bulk of the stormy weather expected before 4 p.m. High temperatures will hover around the upper 70s and lower 80s before dropping into the low to mid-60s later in the day.

Don't fret, though. It's likely that you can hang up your umbrella toward the end of the week. The sun will reemerge Thursday and hang around into the weekend, with temperatures getting as high as the upper 80s.
