Dry, Warm Week Brings Increased Threat For Brush Fires

​The weather service advised using extra caution with any outdoor burning or disposal of smoking materials, due to very dry conditions.

ILLINOIS — Mid-summer-like temperatures will return this week, although humidity levels will remain low, according to the National Weather Service.

Dry weather is expected all week, which will also increase the threat for grass and brush fires, the weather service said.

Monday will be the coolest day of the week, with a high of 82. Temperatures will then warm to a high of 85 on Tuesday, 89 on Wednesday and 90 on Thursday. Temps will cool slightly again to a high of 84 on Friday.

The entire week looks to remain dry, except for Friday, when a remnant tropical system may bring some light rain south of Interstate 80.

Most locations would stay dry, "and the chances of any meaningful rain appear low," the weather service said.
