ILLINOIS — As we head into a new week, Patch has rounded up the stories you may have missed over the weekend.
In one suburb, a 70-year-old man was killed in what police call a home invasion, and the suspect was fatally shot during a confrontation with police.
Meanwhile, police responded to a Denny's restaurant after they say a man attacked another patron and began flipping tables.

1 Dead In Home Invasion, Police Fatally Shoot Suspect
A 70-year-old man died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds in a home invasion, police said, and investigators fatally shot a suspect after they say they pointed a gun at a deputy.
Child, 2, Shot Inside Home: Police
Officers responded to the home on Saturday to find the child had been shot in the leg " by an unknown offender," police said. A gun was recovered at the scene.

Man Batters Victim With Metal Pipe During Hate Crime: Police
Police say the 69-year-old used a racial slur in a parking lot altercation with the victim before beating them with a metal pipe.
Car Stolen At Gunpoint, 3 Arrested: Police
The victim told police he had arranged to sell his car on Offer Up to a man who used a fake name. When he arrived to meet up with the man, three suspects emerged from a stolen Dodge Charger, pointed guns at the victim's groin and stole jewelry, a phone and the car keys before fleeing in the vehicle. Police began pursuing both stolen cars before the Charger crashed. Three suspects were eventually taken into custody.

Taser 'Ineffective' In Arrest After Noise Complaint
Police responding to a third noise complaint told the man he would be issued a ticket but said he refused to provide identification. When an officer tried to put the man in handcuffs, officials say he continued to resist and grabbed a second officer and tried to drag him to the ground. The officer deployed a Taser, but it was ineffective.

Man Went Berserk In Denny's Restaurant, Flipping Tables: Police
Police learned that the suspect had become upset at a man in the restaurant after believing the man had insulted him, then shoved the victim and forced his head into a table before flipping tables at the restaurant.
Fatal Motorcycle Wreck; Police Urge Drivers To Avoid Area
"The roadway will be closed for an undermined amount of time. Please avoid the area and find an alternative route of travel," police said.
