Finally Rain For Chicago Area? Cooler Temps Also On The Way

Rain and even a chance of storms is expected late Thursday into Friday.

ILLINOIS — Chances of rain are finally in the forecast after a few dry weeks in the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.

"The summer heat will remain into the weekend," the weather service said on its Facebook, but the first chance of rain arrives on Thursday night into Friday.

According to the weather service, there is a chance of showers and even a few storms into Friday morning, with the best chance for areas northwest of Interstate 55.

Another chance of rain and storms is expected Friday afternoon, this time for areas east of Interstate 55, according to the weather service.

"The best chance of showers and a few thunderstorms for the entire area will be Sunday and Sunday night," the weather service said.

Thursday will have a high of 89, Friday a high of 86 and Saturday a high of 87 degrees.

Cooler temperatures will arrive on Sunday, which will have a high of 79, according to the current forecast. A high of 76 is expected on Monday, as cooler temps in the 70s seem to stick around next week.
