Flood Watch Friday, Unseasonably Mild Temps On Sunday For Chicago Area

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Kendall, Grundy, Cook and Will counties.

ILLINOIS — Heavy rain will start the day on Friday, with flooding possible for some areas; before the weather mostly dries out for the weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch until 3 p.m. Friday for Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Kendall, Grundy, Cook and Will counties. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks, and flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas, according to the weather service.

The rain will persist into Friday afternoon, with the heaviest rainfall across northern Illinois into far northwestern Indiana. Amounts of up to 1.5 inches of rain are possible, the weather service said.

"The rain ends later today, then turns breezy and cooler into tonight," the weather service said on its Facebook page on Friday.

The high for Friday is 46, and the high for Saturday is 42 degrees.

There is a small chance of light precipitation, possibly rain or snow, on Saturday night, especially north of Interstate 80, the weather service said.

Then, on Sunday, unseasonably warm temperatures are expected, with a high of 55 degrees. Temps in the 40s will continue into the start of the work week, with a high of 48 on Monday and a high of 40 on Tuesday expected, according to the current forecast.
