Freeze Warning Early Thursday Before Temps Warm Again

The conditions will bring an end to the growing season for much of the area.

ILLINOIS — A freeze warning has been issued for most of the Chicago area as sub-freezing temperatures are expected early Thursday according to the National Weather Service.

A frost advisory was issued for 1 to 9 a.m. Thursday for Cook and Lake counties, while all other Chicago-area counties are under a freeze warning from 1 to 9 a.m. Thursday.

Temperatures as low as 28 degrees are possible, and the frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and sensitive vegetation, the weather service said.
