Freezing Rain Could Impact Thursday Morning Commute In Chicago Area
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory, which goes into effect at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
ILLINOIS — An icy end of the day is expected as freezing rain and drizzle is expected Wednesday evening into the night.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory, which goes into effect at 6 p.m. on Wednesday for Cook, DuPage, McHenry, DeKalb, Kane, Kendall and Will counties. The weather service said total ice accumulations around 1/10 of an inch are possible.

The weather service said the freezing rain coverage will peak Wednesday evening. There may be some impacts that continue into the Thursday morning commute.

Originally, the weather service had the advisory starting earlier in the day on Wednesday. The weather service also said snow or sleet, or downed tree limbs from icing are now unlikely.
Temperatures should rise above freezing early Thursday, according to the weather service. Thursday will then be dry, blustery and mild, with a high of 45 degrees.

Temperatures will turn colder again on Friday, which has a high of 36.
"Another round of wintry weather is then likely on Saturday," the weather service said.
