Coroner IDs Girls Killed In Jet Ski Crash

A 16-year-old girl was driving the jet ski when it crashed into a boat, killing her and her 13-year-old passenger, authorities said. Both girls were wearing life jackets but were knocked unconscious and thrown into the water upon impact, authorities said. There were four people on the boat who immediately pulled the girls from the water, called 911 and provided aid, according to police.

Ex-Chicago Cop Who Pinned Teen Sues City, County Officials For Charging Him

The former police sergeant who was recorded kneeling on the back of a 14-year-old boy he suspected of stealing his son's bicycle has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against local authorities for charging him with a crime.

Upside-Down Flags: Illinois Officials Could Face Fines, Charges Under New Bills

After a township supervisor flew the American flag upside-down outside the township government building, a Democrat state representative has introduced legislation he says would prohibit politically motivated efforts to disrespect the flag. Illinois Cop Charged With DUI Ordered Back From Virginia: Village

The deputy chief was attending the FBI National Academy when police reports indicate he was arrested on a drunken driving charge in his squad car. The village has now enlisted a public relations firm to issue a news release about the deputy chief, who they say has been ordered to return to Illinois.

Woman Dies After Sailboat Capsizes

Rescuers found a woman in Lake Michigan Monday morning who had spent the night in the water after her boat capsized, officials said. Once she was taken to shore, she was pronounced dead. A second woman managed to swim the whole two to three miles to the shoreline, where she arrived after 2 a.m., and survived.
