Halloween Weather Forecast In IL: Will It Rain On Trick-Or-Treaters?

Will it rain on trick-or-treaters? Here's what forecasters say to expect in Illinois on Halloween.

ILLINOIS — The year's spookiest holiday is less than a week away, meaning Illinois' Halloween weather forecast is taking shape.

As of now, there's a 100 percent chance of candy corn and a likely chance of showers. Temperatures should be slightlywarmer than usual on Thursday, Oct. 31, but the evening could have a slight chill.

According to AccuWeather, rain may dampen festivities throughout the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes regions.

"Temperatures are expected to fall through the 50s during the evening, and any rain may add a chill to the air," according to AccuWeather's Halloween forecast.

There's a high of 61 degrees during the day and a low of 43 at night, said AccuWeather's forecast for Joliet.

That high is actually slightly above average, according to National Weather Service records. The high is typically 55.9 degrees for Oct. 31, and the low is 40.1.

AccuWeather called for an 16 percent chance of precipitation in the evening, with a wind gusts up to 21 mph. Cloud coverage of 39 percent is expected.

"As you get into the evening hours and the sun dips down, the breeze and temperature fall will make it feel a little cool, even with temperatures being above the historical average," Pastelok said, suggesting a thin layer underneath costumes.
