105-Degree Heat Index: Hot And Muggy Conditions Hit Illinois
Periodic storm chances are possible throughout the week as well.
ILLINOIS — Peak heat index values of 105 degrees are possible as hot and muggy conditions are expected through the work week, according to the National Weather Service.
The high for Monday is 97, with a peak heat index value of 105. It will be breezy with a chance of storms. The weather service said isolated storms are possible Monday afternoon, and could produce strong winds.
"Periodic chances for showers and storms are also expected over the next few days, but most hours should be dry," the weather service said on its Facebook.

For the rest of the week, peak heat index values of 100 degrees are possible. Tuesday will have a high of 93, Wednesday a high of 95 and Thursday a high of 97 degrees.
An air quality alert is also in effect until midnight on Tuesday for the Chicago area. The weather service said that active children and adults, especially people with pulmonary or respiratory disease, should limit prolonged outdoor activity.
