105-Degree Heat Index, Hot And Humid Weather Returns To Illinois

A warm front will bring peak heat index values of 105 to the Chicago area on Monday.

ILLINOIS — The heat is set to return to the Chicago area, as a hot and humid weekend is expected, according to the National Weather Service.

Thursday will have a high of 80, and Friday a high of 83. Both days should be sunny and dry to end the work week, according to the weather service forecast.

"A warm front will lift north on Saturday and Saturday night, possibly accompanied by scattered thunderstorms, followed by a few days of heat and humidity, peaking on Monday," the weather service said on Facebook.

Saturday will have a high of 87, followed by a high of 90 on Sunday and 95 on Monday.

Peak heat index values up to 95 are expected on Sunday, and peak heat index values of 100 to 105 on Monday, according to the weather service.
