Hundreds Of Stolen Vehicles Recovered By IL State Police

ILLINOIS — Illinois State Police have recovered over 200 stolen or hijacked vehicles in recent months, according to a news release.
From July through September, the agency tracked down 210 vehicles, and, in the process, seized 11 guns and made 19 arrests — 17 for vehicle theft and two for hijacking, police said, noting their efforts continue to be funded by state grants. State police had received a $10 million grant, and were awarded another grant of $677,000 in June.
The agency pursued 39 missions targeting vehicle recovery and related violent crime between July and September, and used K-9 and air resources, according to police, who noted some of their activity involved people fleeing and at least one incident involved a crash.
