IL July 4 Weekend Forecast: What To Expect
Here's a look at your chances for clear skies during July 4 fireworks displays.
ILLINOIS — If you're hosting a barbecue, swimming at the pool or heading out to a fireworks show for the Fourth of July, you'll be happy to know that the forecast calls for mostly dry, but hot weather.
Make sure to pack some sunscreen, as the high for Thursday is 91, and the high for Friday is 93 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
The skies look mostly clear for firework displays that are planned for Thursday or Friday evening.

"Most areas will remain dry today, though a few thunderstorms may be able to develop late this afternoon into the evening," the weather service said.
A few isolated storms are possible Thursday afternoon through evening; and there is a 20 percent chance for showers and storms north of Interstate 80 late Thursday into Friday, according to the weather service.

"Heat indices increase for the holiday weekend, as well as race chances for Saturday evening and Sunday," the weather service said on its Facebook.
Heat index values of 95 to 100 degrees are possible Friday and Saturday.
Saturday will have a high of 97 degrees, and Sunday a high of 90. There is a chance of storms Saturday night, as well as Sunday, according to the current forecast.

THURSDAY: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. West wind around 5 mph.
THURSDAY NIGHT: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 69. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming southeast in the evening.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 93. Heat index values as high as 97. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 73. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
SATURDAY: Sunny and hot, with a high near 95. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.
SATURDAY NIGHT: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 75.
SUNDAY: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 87.
SUNDAY NIGHT: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 66.
