ILLINOIS — The housing market is cooling down a bit, easing up a bit from the skyrocketing prices and blisteringly fast home sales of just a few months ago. But it's still a seller's market in Illinois, even as interest rates inch higher.

But how much home can you get for your money? That depends on where you're buying.

According to data from Illinois REALTORS, the median home sale price in the Chicago metro area last month was $325,000 — a 4.8 percent increase compared to July 2021.

Cook County
