IL Man Fatally Shot By ISP After Killing Ex-Girlfriend, Sister: Police
Adam Cobb, 32, was fatally shot amid a high-speed chase after police said he shot and killed two women and the family dog.

COLLINSVILLE, IL – An Illinois man who shot and killed two women over the weekend was shot to death by an Illinois State trooper after he pointed a gun at troopers after leading officers on a high-speed chase, officials said.
Adam Cobb, 32, died at a downstate hospital on Sunday, a day after being shot by a trooper who was a 26-year veteran of the Illinois State police, police said in a news release. Police said Cobb pointed a gun at troopers after his vehicle became disabled following the hour-long chase.
Police had been in pursuit of Cobb, who police said shot his former girlfriend and her sister in an altercation that took place outside his Collinsville home, according to multiple media outlets. Police said they responded to the scene of the shooting where Jamie Joiner, 30, and her sister, Jessica Joiner, 34, were found shot to death at around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

"This is just a tragic event," a police spokesman said at a news conference over the weekend. "Our thoughts and our prayers go out to the Joiner family, but also the Cobb family. There are several families whose lives have been turned upside because of these events."
The spokesman from the Madison County Sheriff's Department told reporters that a 911 dispatcher could hear a woman screaming in the background followed by what sounded like gunshots, according to media reports. Police said it appears Jamie Joiner attempted to call 911 because of where her phone was found in proximity to her body when police discovered her and her sister.

Police told media outlets that Cobb had recently ended a dating relationship with Jamie Joiner, and her sister had traveled from California to help Jamie move. Police said both women were shot either in the head or the neck by Cobb, who also reportedly killed his former girlfriend’s dog before leading police on the chase.
The chase lasted more than an hour, according to police, who said that Cobb led troopers on a pursuit that traveled along Route 127 in downstate Hillsboro before he finally stopped near Pana, Illinois, on Route 51.
State police said that Cobb then reportedly got out of his car and pointed a gun at troopers. Cobb died at a Springfield hospital early Sunday morning from injuries sustained in the altercation.
Police said they will continue to investigate the two homicides, even though Cobb died after being shot.
