IL Woman, 77, Manufactured, Sent Amphetamine To Jail Inmates: Police

BLOOMINGTON, IL — A 77-year-old Illinois woman faces drug charges after police say that she was sending amphetamine to inmates at multiple correctional facilities, police announced on Tuesday.

Sandra Lewis of Bloomington was arrested on a warrant following a lengthy investigation that determined the woman had been sending the drugs to inmates locked up, Bloomington Police said.

The details of how Lewis was sending the amphetamine and other aspects of her activity remains under investigation, police said. She has been indicted on charges of manufacturing and delivering more than 200 grams of amphetamine.

A warrant for $200,000 with 10 percent was issued for Lewis, who was arrested on Friday following a lengthy investigation by the Department of Corrections, police said.
