Illinois Stores To Honor Bed Bath & Beyond Coupons

ILLINOIS — Although Illinois residents may find themselves with Bed, Bath & Beyond coupons that entitles them to 20 percent off at a store that is accepting them, two other retailers around Illinois will allow shoppers to apply the savings at their stores.

The Container Store and Big Lots, both of which have locations around the greater Chicago area and Illinois, announced this week that they will accept the coupons from Bed Bath & Beyond, which is starting to shut down its remaining stores.

The chain announced this week that remaining stores — including 11 in Illinois— will begin to wind down operations after the chain filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in New Jersey last weekend. The retailer announced that it would keep stores open for the time being, but that beginning on Wednesday, the stores would no longer accept the retailer’s 20 percent off coupons which have flooded residents’ mailboxes for years.

But for a limited time, The Container Store and Big Lots will accept the coupons — even those which have expired — and allow shoppers to transfer the 20 percent savings at store locations. The Container Store will accept the coupons for one item through May 31. The coupons cannot be used in combination with other sales deals or toward purchasing a gift card.

Big Lots will only accept the competitor’s coupon through May 7, the retailer announced.

According to its website, Big Lots has 34 locations around Illinois, including Aurora, Bolingbrok, Crest Hill, Lockport and Niles. The Container Store only has six locations, including three in Chicago and stores in Northbrook, Oak Brook and Schaumburg.
