Illinois Gas Prices Drop: Here's Where To Find The Cheapest Gas

ILLINOIS — After local residents saw gas prices spike to nearly $6 per gallon this spring, causing drivers to dig deep to fill up their tanks, prices are gradually starting to drop just in time for summer to begin wrapping up in the coming month.

Gas prices across the greater Chicago area have dropped significantly since it hit an average price of $5.79 per gallon a month ago. As of Monday, the average price of gas in Chicago was $5.15 per gallon, down 18 cents from just a week ago, according to AAA.

Here are the cheapest places to find gas across the greater Chicago area, according to GasBuddy. Prices at the pumps were as low as $4.09 per gallon at one Kane County location, while most stations around the region remain below $4.50 per gallon, which is well under the average price for a gallon of gas within the Chicago city limits.
