Illinois Residents Eligible For Portion Of $24.2M Ikea Settlement
Customers have until May to file a claim for the settlement, which will pay out between $30-$60 to shoppers who used a debit or credit card.

ILLINOIS — Illinois residents who shopped at Ikea in recent years may be entitled to a portion of a $24.2 million settlement that the Swedish retailer must pay out after printing out receipts that included too many digits from customers’ credit or debit cards.
A lawsuit filed in Cook County targets Ikea, which, according to the suit, printed out receipts for transactions that were paid for with credit or debit cards. The suit claims that the receipts included more than the last five digits of a customer’s card number, which is a violation of retail laws.
Although the furniture company and retailer with locations in Schaumburg and Bolingbrook deny any wrongdoing, it has agreed to pay the settlement. Customers who made purchases at the store between October 2017 and the end of 2019 may have received a postcard notification alerting them that they may be among those eligible to receive a portion of the settlement.

In most cases, the settlement amount is limited to anywhere between $30 and $60. The final amount will be determined by the number of claims filed, according to a website for the settlement.
Claims must be submitted by May 4 and a final hearing regarding the settlement will be held on July 28.
