Illinois U.S. Rep. Miller To Boycott Biden's State Of The Union Speech
Miller cited President Joe Biden's "record of lying to the American people" and lack of accountability for her absence at Tuesday's speech.

ILLINOIS — U.S. Rep Mary Miller has never been shy about voicing her opinion about President Joe Biden’s policies, but now she will allow her absence at Tuesday night’s State of the Union address to speak for her.
Miller, the Republican who represents Illinois’ 15th District, announced on Monday that she is boycotting Biden’s upcoming speech, citing what she calls the President’s “record of lying to the American people.”
In a news release, Miller also cited former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s act of ripping up former President Donald Trump’s 2020 State of the Union speech, which Miller said celebrated a secure border, support for the U.S. military and American independence from foreign energy sources.

"Joe Biden’s presidency has been filled with lie after lie, especially lies about the border being secure, inflation being temporary, and the DOJ targeting parents for attending school board meetings,” Miller said in a news release on Monday. “I will not be attending Biden’s State of the Union to listen to him lie about the damage he has caused to our country while the left-wing media and members of Congress applaud his lies."
In addition to border security, Miller cited the classified documents that were recently found in Biden’s Delaware home that date back to his time as Vice President. Miller also said that Biden has lied about the national security risk that was created when a Chinese spy balloon flew over the United States, she said, in the news release. She also accused Biden of lying about gas and oil prices.
In the release, Miller said that she will be giving her ticket to the State of the Union to a retired Air Force Colonel from Illinois, Mark Hurley, who Miller said retired from the military due to Biden’s “unjust” vaccination mandates tied to the COVID-19 pandemic. She said the vaccination requirements purged “the best and brightest” out of the U.S. military and said that the President has failed to provide accountability for the removal of troops from Afghanistan two years ago.
The news release did not say whether Hurley would attend the speech or join in Miller's protest of Biden's record.
“It’s an honor to be able to personally thank Congresswoman Miller and Speaker McCarthy for their efforts to end the COVID vaccine requirement for military members,” Hurley said in a statement released by Miller’s office. “These legislative leaders continued the battle we did not have time to complete through our normal chain of command. We are truly grateful for the thousands of military careers they have saved.”
