ILLINOIS — As we head into a new week, Patch has rounded up the stories you may have missed over the weekend.

Protesters converged on Chicago, organizing protests and rallies against the Israel-Hamas war, in the lead up to the Democratic National Convention, while the National Guard was on standby in the city.

In one suburb, tragedy struck as two men were killed in a UTV crash, and another incident led to two arrests after police say a man pulled a gun after being kicked out of a bar.

An altercation outside the mall escalated into a shooting that left one 17i-year-old wounded and another facing charges.

2 Men Killed In UTV Crash

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a UTV crash over the weekend that claimed the lives of two men and injured a third, police said. The driver and a passenger, ages 40 and 36, were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger sustained minor injuries.

Two men who were kicked out of a bar on Friday, only to return — one of them armed — to confront security staff now face charges.

Protesters Plan Large Marches, Rallies As DNC Kicks Off In Chicago

Organizers estimate turnout for Monday's march and rally, on the first day of the convention, to be at least 20,000 people. "We have to play our part in the belly of the beast to stop the genocide, to end U.S. aid to Israel and stand with Palestine," said Hatem Abudayyeh, a spokesperson for the Coalition to March on the DNC.

Actor Sells Suburban Mansion

The Chicago native is perhaps best known for his role in "New Girl," which ran from 2011 to 2018. He also appeared in National Geographic's "Valley of the Boom" and sitcoms such as "Call Me Kat" and "Woke." He sold the house after his career skyrocketed, and he found that he was seldom there, a listing agent told the Tribune.
