Man Stopped With Dead Wife In Vehicle After Shooting Her At Their Home: Police
He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, police said.

DUQUOIN, IL — A man was found driving with his dead wife’s body in the vehicle during a traffic stop on Monday in southern Illinois, police said.
John W. Finney, 51, of Mount Vernon, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and is accused of fatally shooting his wife, 42-year-old Amy J. Finney, during a dispute at their home, according to police.
Emergency personnel were notified around 8 p.m. Monday of a possible killing in Jefferson County and a possible suspect vehicle, police said, and an officer from the Christopher Police Department found the vehicle — a gray 2007 Ford Escape — just after 9 p.m. at state highways 14 and 148.

With the assistance of deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the officer stopped the vehicle in the 9000 block of Birch Road in rural DuQuoin, according to police.
John Finney was detained and Amy Finney was discovered dead, police said. John Finney was arrested and incarcerated in the Jefferson County jail to await a pretrial detention hearing, according to police.
