ILLINOIS — Someone in Illinois woke up a lot richer Saturday after the jackpot-winning Mega Millions ticket — worth a staggering $1.337 billion — was sold at a Des Plaines gas station.

According to the Illinois Lottery, the winning ticket was sold at a Speedway on Touhy Avenue.

“We have not heard from the winner yet," Illinois Lottery Director Harold Mays said. "We don’t know whether or not they’re aware they’ve won this incredible prize. So we’re telling all of our players — check your tickets."

The estimated cash payout is $747.2 million. The gas station will get a cash bonus of $500,000 for selling the winning ticket.

It's the largest lottery prize ever won in Illinois, and the third-largest ever won in the country, Illinois Lottery officials said in a news release.

The winning numbers were:

  • 13 - 36 - 45 - 57 - 67 MegaBall: 14

The jackpot is the second-largest prize in Mega Millions history. The largest, $1.537 billion, was won in October 2018 in South Carolina.

Another winning ticket worth $1 million was also sold in Illinois, according to the lottery, and there were seven $10,000 winners sold in the state. The $1 million ticket was sold at SRB Food Mart in Berkeley, Illinois.

Illinois Lottery officials urge anyone who bought a ticket at the Des Plaines Speedway to check their ticket or scan it via the Illinois Lottery App.

The winner is urged to sign the back of the ticket, seek professional and legal advice, then make an appointment with the Illinois Lottery to claim their prize. While the winner has one year from the date of the draw to claim their prize, they only have 60 days to choose the cash option or annual payments.

The next Mega Millions drawing is Tuesday.

Editor's note: Due to high sales, the jackpot from Friday night's Mega Millions drawing increased to $1.337 billion from $1.28 billion.
