More Than 1,000 Illinois Layoffs Announced In February: State
The closing of Carson's stores around the state contributed to last month's numbers.

Illinois employers announced more than 1,000 planned layoffs last month, fueled by a spate of plant and department store closings. The findings were part of the monthly report by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, which was released Monday.
By Illinois law, companies must notify the state of any mass layoffs. The following list looks at Illinois businesses that announced upcoming layoffs in February:
- The Bon-Ton Stores: 405 employees from six its Carson's and Bergner's stores in the state.
- Siemens Industry: 200
- Teva Pharmaceutical Industries: 101
- MOL (America): 89
- Imperial Marble: 79
- iCall Services: 75
- Amcor Rigid Plastics: 75
- NYK Business Systems America: 67
February's numbers come on the heels of more than 2,000 layoffs announced by Illinois companies in January. Those layoffs were led by closings of Sam's Club locations around the state, as well as cuts at ABM Aviation at O'Hare International Airport.
