More Snow Expected Across Chicago Area Monday: How Much And When
Total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches are expected on Monday, plus, the coldest air of the season is about to arrive.
After a weekend snowstorm with the highest snow totals ever recorded in November, the wintry pattern continues as December begins, as a winter weather advisory has been issued for the Chicago area on Monday.
The National Weather Service has issued the advisory for McHenry, Lake, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Kendall, Grundy, La Salle, Kankakee, Cook and Will counties from 2 p.m. Monday to midnight.
The weather service said total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches are expected. Locally higher amounts are possible for south of Interstate 80.

The snow on Monday afternoon could result in hazardous travel conditions for the evening commute, with impacts even lingering into the Tuesday morning commute.
After Monday's snow, the active pattern will continue, according to the weather service. There are additional chances for snow on Wednesday and Friday.

In addition to the snow, the weather service said the coldest air yet this season, is expected on Wednesday and Thursday. There will be sub-zero overnight lows, and wind chills as low as 15 below zero.
Here's a more detailed look at the week ahead, per the weather service:
MONDAY: Snow, mainly after 1 p.m. High near 28. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
MONDAY NIGHT: Snow, mainly before 1 a.m. Low around 17. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
TUESDAY: Partly sunny, with a high near 24. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
WEDNESDAY: A 30 percent chance of snow after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 32. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: A 30 percent chance of snow before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 2.
THURSDAY: Sunny, with a high near 13.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around -3.
FRIDAY: Partly sunny, with a high near 23.
FRIDAY NIGHT: A chance of snow before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16.
