This Is Illinois' Most Popular Witch This Halloween

ILLINOIS — What’s more "Halloween" than black cats, spooky decor and witches? The countdown to Halloween is in full swing and Spruce is getting into the spirit.

Google's annual "most searched costumes of 2020" list named witches as the No. 1 Halloween costume this year. With this information, Spruce said they took a look at the most popular witches in every state based on Google search volume and data.

Across the country, these were the most popular witches searched, according to Spruce:

• The star of Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, Sabrina Spellman, is the most popular witch in seven states — winning more than any other witch.
• The Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus are the most popular witches in Arizona, Kentucky, Ohio and South Carolina.
• Three witches from Harry Potter make the list: Professor McGonagall, Hermione Granger, and Bellatrix Lestrange.

Here in Illinois, Fiona Goode is the most popular witch searched. Goode is a witch from FX horror anthology "American Horror Story: Coven."

Goode was portrayed by actress Jessica Lange and is a supreme witch of Salem descendants, according to Fandom. This witch is obsessed with eternal youth and "despises her aging body.

Fandom also said Goode has the power to drain life from others and has a strained relationship with her daughter, which she tries to repair in the show.

According to Fandom, some of Goode's powers include:

• Telekinesis — The ability to move things with the mind.
• Concilium — Otherwise known as mind control, is the ability to make others do what whatever the individual wants them to.
• Memory manipulation — alter the memories in an individual's mind.
