'Icy Wintry Mix' Possible This Week: IL Weather
Highs on Monday could be near 60 degrees. However, the weather service is focused on possible icy wintry mix impacts on Wednesday.
ILLINOIS — Quiet weather through Tuesday is expected, before an icy wintry mix is possible on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Highs on Monday could be near 60 degrees, and will be mildest south of Interstate 80. Tuesday will have a high of 39. Both days will be breezy, according to the current forecast.
"Our main forecast concern and focus continues to be on the potential for an icy wintry mix and associated impacts on Wednesday-Wednesday night (especially in the afternoon-evening)," the weather service shared on its Facebook page.

The high for Wednesday is 39 degrees.
The weather service said precipitation will spread across the Chicago area during Wednesday afternoon and into the evening, ending overnight. The exact track and strength of the system is still uncertain.

The highest chance of ice accumulations of .1 inch or greater is for the areas near and north of I-80.
There will be a wintry mix of snow/sleet to freezing rain, changing to rain in some spots late in the day, especially the farther south you are, the weather service said.
After the possible ice on Wednesday, Thursday has a high of 38 and Friday a high of 31. Both days will be partly sunny.
There also looks to be a chance of snow on Friday night and Saturday, according to the current forecast.
