50 MPH Winds, Record Warmth: Fall Storm System Moves Through Illinois
Plus: will it rain on trick-or-treaters?
ILLINOIS — A strong fall storm system will bring lots of active weather to the Chicago area this week, as forecasters predict near-record warmth, gusty winds, soaking rain and an increased threat for fire spread.
Monday will start with a high of 71, and breezy winds as high as 25 mph, according to the National Weather Service Chicago.
Then, record warmth is possible on Tuesday as a high of 83 is expected. The unseasonable warmth will continue on Wednesday, which has a high of 82, according to the weather service.

The weather service said winds will gust up to 40 to 50 mph on Tuesday and Wednesday. These strong winds, along with the warm temps, will result in an elevated risk of rapid brush and grass fire spread on Tuesday afternoon.

"A cold front will bring rain to the area Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with clearing skies and blustery conditions Thursday afternoon and evening," the weather service said on its Facebook. The high for Thursday is 65 degrees.
In other words, it looks like the rain will clear in time for trick-or-treating on Thursday afternoon.
Then, to close out the week, Friday will have cooler temps with a high of 57 expected.
