'Critical Fire Weather' Warning Issued For Illinois
"Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly," according to the red flag warning.

ILLINOIS — The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for most of the Chicago area from noon to 9 p.m. on Tuesday due to "critical fire weather conditions."
The weather service said that the combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
"Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly," according to the red flag warning.

The weather service advised postponing any outdoor burning and using extreme caution when disposing of smoking materials. Residents were advised to avoid activities that cause open flames or sparks, including operating farming machinery and parking on grass.
In addition, periods of strong winds are expected through Thursday. Winds up to 40 mph are expected Tuesday, but the strongest winds are forecast from Wednesday night into Thursday, when winds up to 55 mph are possible.

"Loose objects such as Halloween decorations may move around due to the winds," the weather service said.
