Severe Storm Potential For The Weekend, 80-Degree Temps Expected

An "active" weather pattern is expected through Monday, the weather service said.

ILLINOIS — Warmer temperatures are on the way for the Chicago area, and the milder weather will bring a more active weather pattern through Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures begin to warm up on Thursday, which will have a high of 62 degrees. As we enter the weekend, temperatures will get even warmer, reaching 80 degrees.

Storms are possible throughout the weekend, although there could still be many dry hours.

First up, waves of showers and storms are expected Friday afternoon through the evening, the weather service said. Most of Saturday could be dry, but there is a potential for showers and storms Saturday night through Sunday night.

Friday will have a high of 64 degrees, Saturday a high of 80, and Sunday a high of 80. The weekend will also be breezy, with gusts as high as 40 mph on Saturday.

The weather service said there could be a threat of strong to severe storms for late Sunday afternoon into the night. Locally heavy rain will also be possible.

There is also a chance of storms on Monday, which will have a high of 74 degrees.
