Severe Storms, Hail Possible Before Temps Drop: IL Weather
Here's when severe weather could hit the Chicago area.
CHICAGO — After a holiday weekend that brought an abundance of sunshine and warm weather, the heat that is expected to continue Tuesday and into Wednesday may be accompanied by a chance of storms capable of producing high winds and hail. However, severe weather could be accompanied by a nearly 20-degree drop in temperatures.
The National Weather Service is predicting a slight chance of storms for the greater Chicago area on Tuesday, with the biggest threat of severe weather arriving between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Overall, there is about a 50 percent chance of rain and storms Tuesday evening, forecasters predict.

Temperatures are again expected to reach into the upper 80s for much of the region, with breezy conditions. However, as things warm up — with the possibility of some areas seeing 90-degree readings — a slight chance of a thunderstorm arises along with the possibility of winds gusting up to 60 mph and hail up to the size of a quarter, forecasters predict.

Temperatures will only reach the mid-60s on Wednesday before another chance of rain arrives Wednesday night into Thursday.
Temperatures will remain in the mid-70s for the weekend, with the next slight chance of rain arriving Sunday.
