Storm Chances Continue Through The Week, Temps Near 80 For Illinois

The first chance of thunderstorms will be Monday night into Tuesday morning, the weather service said.

ILLINOIS — Storm chances continue throughout the week, as temperatures will cool back down to the 60s by Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Milder temperatures are expected for the first half of the week, with a high of 77 on Monday, a high of 78 on Tuesday and a high of 79 on Wednesday.

The first chance of thunderstorms will be Monday night into Tuesday morning, the weather service said. Scattered storms could move into northern Illinois after 3 a.m., bringing gusty winds and small hail.

The threat of widespread severe weather with these storms is low, the weather service said.

A second round of storms could redevelop Tuesday afternoon, which could bring isolated strong to severe storms to the area, according to the weather service. Again, damaging hail and gusty winds would be possible.

Wednesday could also see a possibility of severe storms, especially in the late afternoon and evening, the weather service said.

Thursday has a chance of showers and storms during the day, while Friday looks to be mostly sunny with a high of 63 degrees, according to the weather service forecast.
