IL 4th Of July Forecast: When To Expect Storms, Extreme Humidity To Return
As the Fourth of July approaches, here's when storms and oppressive humidity could hit.
ILLINOIS — The week's forecast include a slight relief from the humidity mid-week, before it builds back through the end of the week for the Fourth of July holiday.
According to the National Weather Service, "the heat and humidity will gradually build back into the region through the end of the week and upcoming holiday weekend, along with periodic chances for showers and storms, although washout conditions are not expected."
But first, as the work week begins, there is a threat of thunderstorms on Monday and Monday evening, the weather service said.

Monday will have a high of 90 degrees, and the warmth and humidity will "set the stage for isolated to scattered thunderstorms today into or through this evening," according to the weather service.
The strong storms could bring damaging winds and frequent lightning.

Tuesday will be less humid with a high of 86, and Wednesday will have a high of 90.
For any fireworks shows planned on Thursday, there is a small chance of storms right now, and the high for the day will be 93 degrees. Storm chances continue on the Fourth of July, which has a high of 95 degrees with peak heat index values of 100 degrees possible, according to the current forecast.
There is also a chance of storms on Friday.

MONDAY: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Heat index values as high as 95. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
MONDAY NIGHT: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
TUESDAY: Sunny, with a high near 85. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 65. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west after midnight.
WEDNESDAY: Sunny, with a high near 88. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 67.
THURSDAY: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 70.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 93.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 74.
