Storm Chances, Heat And Humidity Start The Week For Illinois

ILLINOIS — A few storms are possible to start the week on Monday, as temperatures remain hot and humid, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a chance of showers and storms, mainly near and south of Interstate 80 on Monday. According to the weather service, Monday will have a high of 88, and it will be humid both Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday will have a high of 87.

A chance of scattered storms is also possible Tuesday.

Weather will turn slightly cooler and less humid mid-week, with highs of 84 on both Wednesday and Thursday, according to the weather service. Friday will be warmer again, with a high of 89.

After Tuesday, drier conditions are expected for the latter half of the week, the weather service said.

MONDAY NIGHT: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. South southwest wind around 5 mph.

TUESDAY: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. West southwest wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 10 mph.

WEDNESDAY: Sunny, with a high near 84. Northwest wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 10 mph.
