Storms, Rain Expected Before Dry Weekend In IL: NWS

The weather service said that "an unsettled pattern" will return once again early next week.

ILLINOIS — Strong to severe storms are possible Thursday night, before weather mostly dries out for the weekend in the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.

Periodic rain and storm chances will continue on Thursday morning, and into the afternoon and evening. The high for Thursday is 88 degrees, and there is a chance of a few strong to severe storms between 3 and 9 p.m.

The strongest storms could have locally damaging winds and quarter-sized hail, the weather service said.

"The precipitation on Friday is expected to be mainly showers, with only a few thunderstorms possible," the weather service said on its Facebook. Friday will have a high of 85 degrees.

As we move into the weekend, conditions will be mainly dry, with a high of 89 on both Saturday and Sunday.
