Storms Possible As Hot Weather Makes Brief Return: Illinois Weather
Temperatures are expected to reach near 90 Thursday and Friday before things cool back off for the weekend with more rain.
CHICAGO — As if Mother Nature hasn’t dealt enough of a roller coaster of weather conditions this spring, the Chicago area will get a brief re-introduction to summer over the next couple of days before temperatures dip again for the weekend.
Oh, and the forecast includes a chance of rain and storms, just for good measure.
The National Weather Service is predicting that temperatures could make a serious jump back into the mid-to-upper 80s Thursday and Friday as a pattern of up-and-down temperatures continues to prevail around the greater Chicago area.

Chicago-area residents are expected to see an abundance of sunshine on Thursday, when temperatures could reach 86 degrees, forecasters predict. A 20 percent chance of rain is predicted for the area Thursday night before even warmer air —and a bigger chance of rain and storms could move in for Friday.
Temperatures on Friday could reach 88 degrees with windy conditions, and there is a 50 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms. Wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph on Friday, when the rain is expected to move in after 1 p.m.

Storms could continue on Friday night, when there is an 80 percent chance of rain.
AccuWeather forecasters aren’t predicting long periods of rain on Friday and believe there is only about a 36 percent chance of thunderstorms. Humidity will remain at about 49 percent before the rain showers overnight cool things back into the 60s for the weekend and for the start of next week.
Rain is possible on both Saturday and Sunday, forecasters predict.
