Sun, Wind And 80s Before More Rain, Drop In Temps: IL Weekend Weather

The Chicago area will see its warmest air on Saturday when temperatures will reach the mid-80s before rain, thunderstorms arrive Sunday.

CHICAGO — In what has already been a spring filled with unpredictable weather changes and constant shifts between pleasant and downright miserable, this weekend will bring unseasonably warm and summer-like temperatures before another drop in temperature moves in.

National Weather Service forecasters are predicting temperatures will reach into the mid-80s on Saturday when there will be plenty of sunshine and breezy conditions. Forecasters expect that winds will produce gusts of up to 40 mph in the afternoon but that winds will typically remain between 15-20 mph.

Temperatures will remain pleasant on Sunday, but more rain is expected to move into the area starting in the overnight hours of Saturday night. Rain will begin sometime after 1 a.m. and temperatures will remain in the low 60s under mostly cloudy conditions.

More rain, and possible thundershowers, will remain in the area on Sunday when temperatures will reach the low 70s with breezy conditions. Forecasters are calling for a 70 percent chance of rain throughout the day.

And just when local residents were starting to think more about warmer air, temperatures will again drop back into the 50s for the start of the work week, forecasters said. The week ahead will remain mostly dry, the National Weather Service said, but temperatures will struggle at times to climb out of the 40s with overnight lows remaining in the mid-to-upper 30s throughout the week.
