Taste Of Early Fall For Chicago Area

ILLINOIS — A taste of early fall is expected this week as highs in the 70s are forecasted all week long for the Chicago area. Dry and sunny weather is also expected most of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Dangerous swimming conditions are still expected at northwest Indiana Lake Michigan beaches through Tuesday afternoon, the weather service said. There could be life-threatening currents with high waves of 3 to 8 feet.

The entire week looks to be dry, except for Thursday. There is a chance for a "few scattered showers and storms in the area [on] Thursday afternoon," the weather service said.

The warmest day of the week also looks to be Thursday, which has a high of 78. Temperatures also look to stick to the 70s for the weekend, with a high of 75 on Saturday and 78 on Sunday, according to the current forecast.

MONDAY: Sunny, with a high near 70. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 51. West northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

TUESDAY: Sunny, with a high near 72. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 50. North northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 10 mph.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. Light west southwest wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57.

THURSDAY: A slight chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 74. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
